All hailing from Leith in Edinburgh, friends from school, Max, Callum, Felix, Alex and Jonnie have been making their mark with energetic, crowd bouncing live shows for three years now.
Their last release, (September 2016) double single 'Bitter Kiss/Lips', netted them recognition from The Scottish Sun's ‘New Music with Jim Gellatly’ column, Scotland on Sunday’s ‘Under the Radar’ column, track of the week by Alive and Amplified and This Feeling/Gigslutz track of the day. It was a campaign that took them on a 7 date UK tour, supporting the likes of Baby Strange and playing London’s The Lexington.
September's success led Ayakara to gain further bookings, one of these supporting Palace at King Tuts on 26/11/2016 and eventually rounding off 2016 with a near-sell out Christmas concert in December last year in Edinburgh.
Their latest release "Dressed From '67" (February 2017) premiered on The Skinny's website on 7/2/17 and received an exclusive radio airplay on Vic Galloway's BBC Radio Scotland show as a BBC Introducing track. Reviews from prominent Scottish bloggers such as Club Decode, Ravechild and Vinyl Noise followed. Club Decode noted the record was a "A brilliantly crafted track that is sure to set Ayakara well on their way to being one of 2017’s rising bands". The release took Ayakara on another UK wide tour in February which saw them play to capacity crowds on their 7 date tour.
