Corbridge Festival Update


It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we bring you the news that Corbridge Festival will not take place in 2020 and will be rescheduled to 2nd, 3rd & 4th July 2021. 

We’ve looked at every which way possible to put on the event this year but sadly we feel it’s just not going to be possible given the current climate.

It’s looking more and more likely that some kind of social distancing measures will remain in place for several months and we feel that large social gatherings are likely to be the last restrictions lifted by the Government. Tynedale RFC has limited ground availability until the rugby season starts up again (hopefully) later this year and a family friendly camping festival in Winter just isn’t the same! So, we need to get ahead of the game and start planning for 2021. Our aim is to organise a celebration party worthy of all you good people and our key worker heroes, (whilst not forgetting the people who it seems inevitable will have lost their lives to this dreadful virus). We want you to be able to look forward to having the best time without fear of catching anything other than a groove and the sun’s warm rays.

If you’ve already bought a ticket for 2020 please hold onto it, your ticket will be valid for next year’s Corbridge Festival.  Not only that, we promise you so much more!  In addition to keeping the entire line up intact, we intend to add many more internationally acclaimed artists and - drum roll please - a 3rd day of music, merrymaking and mayhem on the Sunday!

Whichever ticket you have, whether it be a Weekend or Saturday only ticket, if you hold onto it and use it next year, we intend to give you free access to the third day (Sunday) as a way of saying a big THANK YOU!

You can imagine and understand the massive impact that Covid-19 is having on the business community that we rely on to bring you the best festival experience we can; the production and stage hire companies, the small independent food traders, the people we need for welfare services and toilet hire, the marquee, security and medical guys and girls, our friends from the music, culture and arts world etc etc. We know you understand because there’s a good chance you work within one of those sectors or another sector hit hard by the current devastation. We honestly and sincerely hope that you’re getting through this and finding a way forward. 

It’s going to be a long hard climb (not just for us but for many businesses), and unfortunately cancelling an event doesn’t come without cost to us as well.  We’ll do our utmost to make future events bigger and better. We’ll continue to hire in from and outsource within the local area and to support our local business and charities in whichever way we can. We will continue to take financial risks by putting on the events we all love and which in turn will provide employment and business for many other independent companies. We’ll need to rebuild our industry and this is how we’ll play our part!  Amongst all of this chaos remains a strong community, wonderful people; we’ll move forward, put this all behind us and conquer the world!

We could not be more grateful to you guys who have supported our little gathering each and every year and we hate to disappoint you, but this one’s out of our hands. We hope you understand.
