Saturday 29th June - 7.40pm
Supporting Saturday’s headliners will be North East indie rockers The Futureheads
From their first gig in Sunderland's cricket club back in December 2000, the band sprang to fame 5 years later with their iconic cover of Kate Bush’s Hounds of Love. Peaking at number 8 in the UK charts, the song was enthusiastically endorsed by 6 Music and was named ‘Best Single of 2005’ by NME. Not bad for four North East lads.
Their silver-selling debut album, The Futureheads, embraced an outstanding mix of scalpel guitars, crashing drums and wry lyrics sung in undiluted Wearside accents - a formula which would continue over three more albums.
Their final album, Rant, was released back in 2013 and unlike any of their previous work, it was performed almost entirely a capella. The tracks showcased their raw and powerful voices, with their beautiful rendition of Richard Thompson’s Beeswing becoming a fan favourite.
Now, the Futureheads are back and will be releasing a brand new album later this year, with a handful of live dates to celebrate.
The new chapter of The Futureheads promises to be very special indeed!
